SCRIPTURE:
For the Lord, your God is a consuming Fire, a jealous God….Duet 4:24
DEVOTION:
What image of someone do you get when someone is described as Jealous? Do the words, controlling, selfish, envious, insecure, suspicious, covetous, possessive sound familiar? How could our heavenly Father be jealous? What is really strange about Father’s love, is that He is indeed jealous. He is only satisfied when His Love totally consumes us. Our Heavenly Father opposes anything that hinders our relationship with Him (Duet 6:15). He wants only the best for us. Our relationship with Him should be our top priority. Our Love for Him should dictate how we spend our time, our money, and our energy. Father wants us to love Him with all our hearts, our souls, our minds and our strength (Mark 12:30). His jealousy is not for His selfish reasons but because he has so much to give to those who love Him and place Him first in our lives. Are you ready to put Him first in your life?
REFLECTION & SHARING:
Is there anything in your life that you have placed before Your Lord and Savior? What is it? Do you trust the Lord with all your heart? Should you? Do you lean on your own understanding? Should you? Do you acknowledge Him in all your ways? Should you? Examine the priority Father plays in your life and remove anything that may hinder your relationship with Him.
“For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” – Deuteronomy 4:24
As I journey through this 40-day period, this verse has deeply convicted me to truly put God first. There were days I faltered, rushing out the door, eager to tackle my to-do list, but I’ve come to realize that with intentional planning and preparation, I can begin and end my day in His presence.
Life will always be busy. There will always be excuses and distractions. But devoting time to pray, praise, worship, meditate, and listen to His voice is how we honor Him. It’s how we remind ourselves and show God that no job, no business, no relationship comes before Him. He is a consuming fire, and He is jealous for us, not out of insecurity, but out of a deep, covenant love that desires to be first in our hearts.
To think of Father being jealous not of me but for me. That His Desire is for me, for my time, for my energies.... Oh my Lord, I think of Peter during the Last Supper when Yeshua told him that He needed to wash his feet and Peter said "No, I should be washing your feet" Yeshua, told Peter if He did not wash his feet, he will have no part of Him. Peter said "Lord, wash not only my feet but my hands, my face..... Ohhhh Lord I want all that you have for me, engulf me with your love, your peace, your love .... Be jealous for me... Love you Lord. Teach me to always put you first.... Let me feel your jealousy every day, every hour, every second, every millisecond. Worthy is your name to be praised!!!
