SCRIPTURE:

Do everything without grumbling or arguing. Philippians 2:14

DEVOTION:

We often think of grumbling and arguing, we think of our 15 year old self when we are not in agreement with the curfews, chores or reprimands we receive? Do we really grumble as adults? Do we grumble or argue about things in our adult self? Of course not!! The next time you are given a directive from a leader or elder and you are not in agreement with it, do you humbly submit or do you go to the first available ear other than your leader or elder and express your dissatisfaction about what you were asked to do?  That’s grumbling! When you choose to air your opinion aggressively instead of quietly or choose to allow someone to push your buttons and you respond, guess what, that is arguing.

REFLECTION & SHARING:

Grumble? Argue? Not me.  Really? Remembering that we are given instructions that we should do everything without grumbling or arguing, reflect on your life and see where you may be still grumbling or arguing.

Teacher Mylyn 17 days ago

I committed to this 40 day devotional and like Mother Safiya, I had to allow yesterday's meditation to marinate in my spirit all day yesterday. I had a very busy day but that scripture never left me. For those who do not know me, you might say "Grumble and Argue" not Teacher Mylyn but over the years if I feel strongly about something I will fight tooth and nail to get my point across. Father has surely worked on my temperament and taught me to be still when I really want to explode. I continue to learn not to Grumble but to test the spirit and hold fast to that which is good. If you dealing with me and you notice I get very quiet or refrain from calling or texting you, I am "eating the fish and spitting the bones out." I try to find value in everything I encounter, even when a nest of Fire Ants but the heck out of my two hands!!! Instead of complaining about it, I took responsibility that I invaded their home and they were only defending it. Anyhow, I continue to give thanks instead of murmuring, grumbling or arguing. Praises!!!
