SCRIPTURE:
Great Peace have they that love thy Law and nothing will offend you - Psalm 119:165
DEVOTION:
Lord, teach me to Love your Law so that nothing will offend me. Lord, teach me that whether or not I like your Law, I should learn to love it because it came from you and it is part of you. You gave it to us to guide us and to have us walk according to your way. Lord teach me and guide me to hunger and thirst after righteousness so that I may be filled (Matthew 5:6). Lord, let not a day pass that I am offended about anything or by anyone, trusting that no matter the situation, you are in full control of everything in my life. I surrender all to you.
REFLECTION & SHARING:
Lord, who am I the clay to say to you, the Potter, make this of me or make that of me. Mold me and make me into who or what you want me to be. (Is 64:8) I ask that when man sees my good works, they will glorify you in Heaven (Matt 5:16). Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight. Oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer. (Ps 19:14) Amen.
For most of us, when we hear or think of confinement, we think of limitations, we think of police brutality, we think of how free we would be without the Law.... Have you ever thought of how chaotic life would be if there were no laws? Laws were actually created to protect us. Have you ever thought of how much danger we would be in if there were no traffic signals on our streets or if we all decided to ignore the laws of that Red, Amber and Green light? What would happen if we walked around taking things that do not belong to us? What about not speaking truth? How maligned would our lives be?
Father gave Moses those 2 tablets of stone not to restrict the freedom of His people but to guide them into having a life without chaos. How different would our lives be, if we did not allow anything to offend you? How different would our lives be if we trusted in our Lord for perfect retribution for anything that anyone did to you that could cause you harm? When Samuel the prophet went to David and told him about a man who had many sheep and yet he went to a man with only 1 sheep and he took the man's only sheep. Samuel was speaking to David about the situation that occurred with Bathesheba. David, not knowing that Samuel was referring to this, expressed much disgust about the situation and requested that judgement should come up on this man. Samuel quietly responded by saying "David, that man was you " We tend to look at things differently when we are the ones who walked outside the law. When given the option of standing before a human panel for judgement of his "crime" or allowing God to punish him, he chose God. He said he chose God because God was just. I don't know if I would have chosen God, I may have taken a chance with a jury of my peers. Whatever we would choose in our carnal reasoning, I promise you that Father's way would be just and true and He would ALWAYS choose what is best for us, even when we do not see it at the time. Lord thank you that you created guidelines so we will be protected. Lord, help me to love your law and walk in it so that nothing will offend me.
