SCRIPTURE:  16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

                                                                                                          Proverbs 6:16-19

DEVOTION:

To think of 6 things that God hates and the 7th one is an abomination certainly catches our attention. We should always be conscious of things that do not make God happy and stay away from them. These things should be on the top of our prayer list, asking Father to please keep us from committing these sins. As we review Proverbs 6:16-19, we see that the 7th thing is causing discord among the brethren, what is interesting is that all the other 6 things also cause discord among the brethren. Ps 133:1 states….How good and pleasant it is that brethren live together in unity.

REFLECTION & SHARING:

Lord do I have proud looks? Do I have a lying tongue? Do I shed innocent blood by using my mouth to speak death over my brethren? Do I create scenarios that make others think ill of my brother or sister? Am I the one who gossips? Do I fabricate things to seem more important or more popular or more accepted? Do I cause confusion within the brethren? Forgive me oh Lord, mold me and make me into who you want me to be.

Todays lesson makes me think about a saying I have heard many times and in the past I myself have used it and it's "God Knows My Heart". Many including myself would say that after we say something that is not Christ like and either someone calls us out about the statement or we catch ourselves and then say we'll God knows my heart. We must understand the true meaning of Power of the Toungue. Our words are a direct reflection of our thoughts our minds and in many instances our heart. I am guilty of allowing emotions to drive my words whether good or bad. My prayer today is for the Most High to forgive me for any discord, pain or hurt my words may have caused my brethren and to help me learn how to be silent in those moments and allow Him to give me the words. May He give me opportunities to speak life, light and love into my brethren in their times of need. Amen

Wow!!! Lord!!! Forgive me Lord!!! This is heavy!!! Lord, guide my feet, control this red rag that is my tongue, perfect my mind to only think things of you, let my eyes only look to you and honor you, let me only speak life into those I meet and not death, teach me to love and prefer my brothers and sisters more than myself, mercy Lord I pray!!! Oh Lord help me moment by moment to not be one to cause mischief...let me O'Lord be an example of you in everything I say, everything I do everything I think and everything that I am. Mercy Lord Mercy. Amen
