SCRIPTURE:

The manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all- 1 Corinthians 12:7

DEVOTION:

In the Old Testament, God gave specific assignments to His Servants and then placed His Spirit upon them to enable them to accomplish their work. In the New Testament, God placed His Holy Spirit within each believer and manifested Himself through the Believers to encourage and equip every other member of the body. In other words, we cannot say we are spirit filled and we are not using the gifts that God gave us for the edification, or the building up of the body, and the perfecting of the saints. The Holy Spirit has an assignment for each and every one of us within the body, and He will equip us with His presence for this work.

REFLECTION & SHARING:

How does the presence of the Holy Spirit being a part of our lives benefit those around us? Does  our presence make a difference at St. Catherine’s? Does it benefit anyone?

Yikes!!! That is a tough question for me to answer, does my presence benefit anyone at St Catherine's or does anyone benefit from the spiritual gifts that I have been given by Father? Actually, do I know what my spiritual gifts are ? Am I operating in them? Oh Merciful Father, order my steps in your way.... Show me how to use the gifts you have given to me for the edifying of the body and the perfecting of the saints. Lord, I want all that you have for me. Speak to me Lord, thy servant heareth. Hear I am Lord, Use me as you see fit. Mold me and make me into what you want and who you want me to be. Love you Lord. Amen

Humility is what resonates with me after reading today’s devotional. As a Spiritual Baptist, we are given the freedom to exercise our gifts in any service. Among us, the gifts are many—pastoring, leading, teaching, evangelizing, exhorting, prophesying, healing, and more.

I strive to remain humble, not prideful, always checking my heart to ensure that my gifts are used for the service of others, not self-exaltation. I am truly grateful that God has entrusted me with the spiritual gifts He has given me, allowing me the privilege to serve Him by serving others.

For those who do not know, I am what many call a conspiracy theorist. I have a curious mind about many things unknown. Today's verse 1 Corinthians 12:7 was familiar because I have studied this book before but today was the first time I really took in the words in chapter 12 which I always thought was just about the different gifts The Most High grand us. But today I realized it's more than just that, stay with me! I have a bad knee that I have dealt with for the longest and when it is bothering me it impacts other PARTS of MY BODY like my ankle for example. So when reading WE as God's children are all part of the SAME BODY it blew my mind. That means that voice we hear that days be kind to a stranger or the empathy we feel for a person that experiences a tragedy is US feeling that need for another member of our BODY! Interesting right, so when we can't feel something for another person outside of ourselves what does that truly mean?? Something to think about as Teacher would day.

My ask in prayer is to allow me to not only open my heart up to make room to be there for others but to Treat The Body better which is mankind. Before I make judgement on situations I don't agree with or understand try empathy first, I ask Father to keep me humble and never look down on others as I am just a reflection of what I see around me. Praise God!!!
